Stormwater Management & Financing Training Series

A low impact development (LID) project installed during Phase V of the Sligo Creek restoration effort. This course is designed to give your community direct skills, technical assistance and financing information about stormwater management options. The course is conducted through the Watershed Assistance Collaborative and taught by the experts at the Chesapeake Stormwater Network; the University of Maryland Environmental Finance Center and the University of Maryland Extension Watershed Restoration Specialists. It is designed for local government staff and meant to be attended by a team representing different sectors that are involved with stormwater management.

Specifically, communities will learn how to:

    • Identify retrofit and new Best Management Practices (BMP's) opportunities in your jurisdiction
    • Understand the different options for funding stormwater retrofit and BMP's
    • Develop a plan to finance and implement stormwater retrofits and BMP's

There are three sessions that are part of the course and a community is asked to participate in all three:

Session I: Identifying and Implementing Stormwater Management Options in your Jurisdiction

Session II: Financing Stormwater: Building Your Stormwater Program

Session III: Meet the Experts: A session tailored to your Specific Needs
