Improving Shoreline Habitat & Buffer Functions Speakers will cover:
Training attendees will be introduced to The Green Book for the Buffer and each participant will receive a copy of the publication. Commission staff will explain how planners can use the guide to assist property owners with preparing and implementing Buffer Management Plans for small projects. This training includes a field component, and participants will tour several sites to analyze existing natural buffers; discuss buffer plantings; management strategies and techniques; and learn invasive species identification and control. There will also be a discussion of the use of living shorelines for erosion control and how living shorelines can be integrated with buffer plantings. We will be outside, DRESS for the WEATHER!
