Community Rating System Training

Rescue personel in life jacket on flotation raft on flooded streetThis course focuses on the Community Rating System (CRS) which is part of Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA), National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

CRS is a voluntary incentive program that recognizes and encourages community floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum NFIP requirements.

Communities currently in CRS; in the process of applying for CRS and those interested in joining CRS are encouraged to take the course.

The course will cover such topics as CRS Manual and Activities, Competitive Loss Mapping Requirement; Minus Rated Polices and the Application Process. It will also serve as a forum for communities to learn from one other, and share their experiences of CRS and get involved with the CRS Users Group.

The course is taught by representatives from MD Dept of the Environment & FEMA.
